A mixture of different worlds. By taking elements from mythology, folklore, literature, and dreams, and filtering them through my experience in traditional Americana tattooing, I hope to create images that can convey a small bit of story, and retain power and timelessness.

When I was younger I would stare at the clouds and wonder how distinct edges can appear to emerge from vapor – there are no actual boundaries, but at some point our eyes just decide there is one. I like to imagine my paintings inhabit the same imaginary space, and that some are close-ups or pan-outs of different parts of this play universe defined only by color and what you & I make of it. The only rule by which I abide is to make anything resembling brush strokes disappear as much as possible, so that any perceived delineations have to do with where you, the viewer, see one color end and another begin.

In my photography, I create a new reality by seeing the world in a graphic context. The lines and shapes of the world can be used in a creative way to create one’s own compositions; and when I take a picture I do not feel asif I am moving, but the world is moving around my camera.

Using slab construction, found objects to stamp into the clay surface, & an extensive glazing process, Arti-Factual Ceramics present lively rich surfaces. The combination of intricate patterns, detailed textures, and glaze finishes on the pieces suggest they may have been recently unearthed and reinvented.

“I dont know what I want to be when I grow up yet!”

our person of the week!

How did you hear about us?
I saw that there was a coffee shop opening and I like coffee so I wanted to try it.
Fave drink?
Mocha.
Dream lifestyle?
I want to own and live off my own piece of land. Not in the states though. Somewhere hot. I have my own gardening unit that I’ve worked at for two years down at Granville. You have your own little box and you plant what you want and they provide your water.
What do you plant?
Lots of herbs, tomatoes and some flowers. I tried zucchini. I didn’t realize how fast they grow! They grow fast man, and take up a lot of space.
Favorite neighborhood spot?
Right now? My apartment. It’s TOO cold. My favorite business is Charmers. I don’t get their coffee but I get a croissant and eggs and juice. Freshly squeezed!
Lets hear it, straight from your Sol:
Don’t eat it if you can’t read the label!
